Cardiac Cath Lab

Better cardiovascular is now available to you, closer to home.

Newton Cardiac Services is now providing cardiovascular care to the Newton community and surrounding areas, with the highest standards and the newest technology.

At Newton Medical Center’s new Heart Cath Lab, you can receive cardiovascular catheterization services that allow healthcare providers to test and treat the heart, coronary and peripheral arteries at a location that’s close to you.

The new $3 million catheterization facility on the Newton Medical Center campus is now seeing patients.  The catheterization laboratory makes it possible for patients who live in Harvey County and surrounding areas to have cardiac and vascular procedures performed in or nearer to their home community.

The heart cath lab is equipped and operated by the newly formed Newton Cardiac Services, whose four owners include cardiologists Hossein Amirani, M.D., and Saad Farhat, M.D., Via Christi Health System, and Newton Medical Center.

The new structure, designed by the architectural firm WDM and constructed by Hutton Construction Company, is located adjacent to the hospital’s main entrance at 600 Medical Center Drive and uses Phillips catheterization equipment.

“We polled our medical staff leadership, and these services were consistently in the top tier of identified community needs,” said Newton Medical Center President and CEO Steve Kelly. A feasibility study also supports the need for these services in Newton.

In addition, Kelly said, Via Christi Health System’s involvement helps make it possible for the community’s need for quality healthcare services to be met in a safe and cost-effective manner, and that patients will experience a seamless continuum of the highest quality care and convenience.

The cath lab at Newton Medical Center is open for use by any credentialed cardiologist, Kelly said. “We invite them to use this new facility,” he said.

Patients may contact a cardiologist directly or may need to get a referral from their primary care physician, depending on their particular health insurance plan.

Congratulations to Dr. Saad Farhat who is now qualified to be Newton Medical Center’s first doctor to do cardioverter difibulator implants.
